Dreams of an Apache Chief

The dewy drops, the grass at dawn

Unto the scarlet sunset sky

I lay, and lay my head upon

My bed and let my spirit fly

I set my gaze upon the stars

Faintly lighting my village tents

I think about my battle scars

I never feared, I never winced

But now it is my time to rest

Within my mind a boat awaits

To take me on another journey

Until the morning, ‘til I wake

My soul aflight, the moon in sight

I board the vessel peacefully

I roam the dreary dark of night

I wonder what things I may see

My people, land, my desert sand

All these things for which I stand

The lily pond, the moonlit lake

My perfect homeland, no mistake
